2024 - Quarterfinals

Writer: Caleb TrowbridgeCaleb Trowbridge

Merry early Christmas! If you haven't seen this little gem floating around the internet, you're welcome.

Boy oh boy, those were two of the best quarterfinal matchups Bro Montana has had in recent memory, perhaps ever. They were both high scoring, both close enough to be VERY interesting the entire weekend, and both made my balls tingle way more than expected as someone on the playoff sidelines! Eric and Jake picked a good week to take off, from the looks of things, they would have lost to all four of the teams in the playoffs had they not gotten byes, crazy! Let's dive in.

Dallas takes my quarterback advice, starting Goff over Stroud for the first time the entire season, and is rewarded with 43 fantasy points from the Lions's leader. Not to be outdone, Josh Allen, Buffalo Jesus, fires back with 43 of his own. David Montgomery goes down with a knee injury early in the game, and it could have been the difference for Tank in this matchup. Both kickers, Aubrey and Reichard, score 15. It had been seven weeks, but Tank finally got another 20 point game out of CeeDee. Mike Evans fires back with 159 receiving yards and two tuddys for 30 fantasy points to help clinch the win for Dallas. Tank is probably kicking himself for not starting Brian Thomas Jr, who has been solid, scoring 25 points this week, but fantasy is a bitch and we all know it. Dallas had the better team all year, and they showed it this weekend. Dallas moves on to battle it out with Jake and Bare Bottoms in the Semis.

What a battle Ragen and Spencer had. Until the bitter end. Josh Jacobs (17), Chase McGlaughlin (18), and the Green Bay Defense (15) were all money, Jalen Hurts threw up 27, and Rico Dowdle even pitched in 17 points. Jayden Daniels continues an impressive rookie campaign, scores 23 points in a dogfight in New Orleans. After a tumultuous week with the media, AJ Brown finally shows back up on the fantasy radar with 20 points in Philly. Jahmyr Gibbs was the benficiary of his partner going down, scores 23 points as the solo RB for a team that runs the ball better than anyone in football, and Spencer dances his way to the semifinals. I can't imagine how many times Ragen has played the what if game with Amari Cooper, hopefully not too many, but one week removed from getting 14 targets, Amari gets no targets, no catches, and puts up a costly goosegg on the board for Ragen. Pull Out Method heads to face Sideline Karmalytics.

Nick cruises past Weekend At Bernies, I assume Bradley has checked out and is already making his plans to lose all his money before draft time. It's time for another Trowbridge bowl, although I'm fairly certain we've never seen one in the consolation bracket... sigh.

Mason breezes past AO, faces Scott in the next round, which means we are one Scott victory from Mason getting a chance to play for 9th place yet again.

In a wild turn of events, Eric, our number one seed, the team that went 11-3 on the season, is somehow projected for the least amount of points in the semifinal round. All four of our top four seeds are meeting in the semifinals. Ragen and Tank are relegated to quite possibly the worst game in all of fantasy, the 5th/6th game.

The Semifinals and Christmas are upon us, gentlemen, may your cups be full and your balls be empty!

Commish Out.
